Hi All, letting you know that the Herring Bay Cup is on the calendar.

WED SEP 9th. 6PM first warning. We go earlier than WNR.

This is for all the marbles. North vs. South!

Hope folks will come out. Last Wednesday race of the season.

Also we need an RC volunteer.

regards

Bert

Hi all, so Allegiant will be the RC for tomorrow.

Hope people come out. Wind looks like it could be sporty. We will see how it looks in the morning before making any call.

Remember we start 30 minutes earlier.

If we do call the race due to weather, the winner of the Herring Bay cup is determined by number of racers at Skippers!

Hello All, so providing a weather update. Also, I haven't seen any registrations for the race. So... This is what your RC is thinking through.

The weather is a mix right now. Wind looks good now with the HRRR model calling for it to continue to build from the South to almost 20 at the start and waves 3 feet.

However, behind that build there is more pressure expected with sustained wind 20+ with gusts to 30. That building front isn't scheduled to arrive until after we would normally be off the race course. However, these fronts have typically been moving quicker than projected on the weather apps and hitting us sooner.

So... I am actually leaning towards canceling the race and settling the trophy at Skippers. Though I really hate to cancel a race. I also don't want people breaking stuff on a weeknight for fun race. We have lots of good racing left. Posting now to get some reactions.

Allegiant

A couple of weeks ago, I was not able to register. I just completed.

Cheers,

Put-in-Bay registered yesterday. The forecast I’m looking at shows sustained wind at 12-15 from the south with gusts in mid-teens to low 20s, which is on the edge of reefing strength. I just arrived to the marina and will check the forum again before heading out.

The HRRR is in my estimation the most accurate model.

It has a range at start time of 18-21. Building from there with gusts 20-30.

And as any forecast could be wrong. I am on my way to the marina now.

I will try and make the call at 4:30pm.

Race committee is heading out at 1700. See you out there.

We ended up getting a race in! Thanks for all that came out

Uncloudy Day

It was sporty, but we got around the race course!

Thanks to an Amazing RC. Wait that was Allegiant! :-) We got it done.

Congrats to HHN for splitting the tie breaker with extra flare points!

Extra kudos to Beda on Uncloudy Day. Short handed and pulled the jib from the track and then the main sheet had troubles too. We thought he'd have to be done for the night but nope - he started and then raced an incredible race.
