First things first, I have attached the pursuit start times for all of the HHSA boats (and more) below. Note - the earliest boat starts at 10:30:00 and the fastest boat that has raced so far this year starts at 11:02:30. I have identified the "likely racers," on the right hand side, to separate those folks that have either raced in HHSA races this year, or that have signed up for the West River race this year, vs. those without a number under "likely racers." Almost all HHSA racers are represented on the chart, so look at the lower portion of the list if you don't see your boat listed with the "likely racers." Also, I have sorted the list by "likely racer" and then by "Non-Spin PHRF" since 6 out of the 8 registered boats for Saturday are likely going to race non-spinnaker. If you are racing with a spinnaker on Saturday, please be sure to confirm your start time is from the "Spin Start" time column and NOT the Non-Spin Start" time. All of this minutiae aside, if you find any problems with the chart (wrong PHRF ratings, in particular), or if you have any questions, please let me know.
Secondly, in response to Doug's concerns about shortening course, have no fear. Assuming we need to shorten course for whatever reason, I can determine a corrected time for each boat, so the faster boats aren't penalized by the shortened course. The difference will be that, with the full length course, we are effectively racing like a one-design fleet - the first boat across the finish line wins, followed by the second boat to finish getting second place, etc. etc. If we shorten course, just because a boat finishes ahead of the others doesn't necessarily mean that they will win the race. I will need to calculate corrected times and adjust for the disparity in original start times.
