2026 Youth Sailapalooza Support Skippers and Boat ...
Mark,

Here is a link to many great photos taken by Bethany Ferralli on the mark boat.  I'm not sure how to merge these into the web site album so everyone can see them.  How would non-members access the photo album?

I started a 2026 Sailapalooza Album.

If you have photos to share, either post them here or try to add them to the existing album.

Cheers

Thank you! Yes please! I need someone to help me on Allegiant!

Hi Bert, I can help out on Saturday.

I usually crew for John Uleman on Kaya. I’m not a skipper and don’t have a boat to offer but if I can help in other ways, on or off the water, please let me know. I did the Offshore Safety at Sea training this year for A2B if that helps meet a need.

Ahoy all,

for those that volunteer to support, we will be holding a nice little BBQ and drinks at the HHN grills supported by HHSA.

BoatUS Foundation did (does somewhere) have a Children Life Preserver Loan program, but it seems to have gone defunct around here. The rep at one place which is not longer participating even said they have been contacting BoatUS Foundation to get delisted with no luck.

Hi Irwin, I'm Dorothy, helping Hutch with the sailapalooza. We're asking how many sailors have PFDs so we'll figure out how many we have and then subsequently need. Peter (Dezendorf, husband) is researching Tow Boat USA as he believes he has heard they will volunteer PDFs for such events. Also checking the bin at North. So short answer is yes, but we are pursuing additional resources. So glad you're in!

I'll most likely sign up as volunteer skipper/boat. But, will the kids bring their own PFDs, or will PFDs be provided? I only have the big orange ones that satisfy the requirement, but obviously not the most comfortable for long day of sailing.

This is a great event and I encourage everyone to participate if they are able. We'll unfortunately be travelling and will miss it this year, but I hope everyone has a wonderful time!

Unfortunately I will not be able to volunteer. My husband is guest skippering a CRAB boat in the CRAB Cup regatta!

I can do mark boat duty.

I registered. May has two adults and one youth (myself, a crew and his grand daughter).

If you can choose volunteer vs. register would be appreciated.

we just put a volunteer button up on the event page.

Just registered, looking forward to it!

Hi All,

Sat AUG 15th is Sailapalooza. Its a day to promote sailing and get some kids on the water. We need Skippers and Boat VOLUNTEERs to take the kids out.

Date and Time: Saturday, August 15, 2026, 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM

Location: Herrington Harbor North at the Gedunk, racing on Herring Bay, and then back to the Gedunk for a BBQ.

We are looking to recruit enough skippers/boats to accommodate ~20 kids, 4 kids per boat, to do a couple short races. So 6-7 boats. More is better!

To make it happen we need Skippers and their boats to volunteer for the day. Please consider supporting.

We can make a short SI. Basically it will be 2 races. W/L or triangle to show them what a race is like.
