High Points Totals for the Year
Jim Bradshaw

HHSA racers,

With the Autumn Classic behind us, there are no more “High Points” races for the 2024 Racing Season. Say it ain’t so!

I wanted to take this opportunity to share the high point details for all of the HHSA races and for the other CBYRA races, CHESSS races, A2B, etc. races that the club members have run for 2024. Please take a look at the attached table of all of the races from this season.

There is a lot going on with this chart, so don’t hesitate to ask me any questions about it. A few notes about the chart:

1.       The top three groups of boats with the grey bars above the boat names are the class groupings (NS-cruising, NS-racing and spinnaker), sorted by the high points totals (column C) for each class). Below the class groupings are the shorthanded results, sorted by column C, and below that is a list of every boat in the fleet together, sorted by the Commodore’s Cup totals (column B).

2.      Boats that raced in more than one class during the year will appear individually under the respective class grouping. For example, Serendipity is listed in the Spinnaker class and the Non-Spin Cruising class.

3.      Only boats that raced in non-HHSA races are eligible for the Commodore’s Cup. Eligibility is indicated in column AX (“CC Qual?”)

4.      Green highlighted boxes indicate the boats that volunteered for RC for those races and the redress that is provided to the respective boats for those races. Several boats received zero points redress when serving as RC (Maya, Liberty Prevails, Suhr la Mer and Blew Bayou II).  This is per the racing rules and is either because the race was cancelled or because the boat served as RC for a weekend race, but did not participate in another HHSA weekend race. See Section 20 of the racing rules.  A further note about this last issue - the Competition Committee will be discussing the possibility of a rule change for 2025 to provide a minimum redress for boats that served as RC  for a race that was not cancelled.

I am sure there are things in the chart that I have not explained clearly, or at all, so if you aren’t sure what you are seeing on the chart, feel free to shoot me a question about it. Please also send me any corrections or edits to the chart.

Five more Frostbite races to go for the year! Come out this Sunday while you still can.
